Welcome! START A BIT indicates starting a bit learning on computer science from a young age, "a bit" is also the most basic unit of information in computing and digital communications. This non-profit & volunteering initiative aims to help our young friends learning basic knowledge of computer science in a fun practical way. We are organized as "study circle" supported by ABF, and strictly follow the regulations. We wish to inspire “tech” interests & creativity at young age by lots of guided hands-on projects and explorations, with children-friendly interpretations.

We had been thinking about the idea of helping the teenagers learning a bit more about the exciting computer enabled world since 2022, then started trying a bit more at the beginning of 2023, the first teaching and learning was LP2313: 10 Weeks Starting Package, 23w13, which spanned the semester of the local school schedule, there were up to 7 students aged 11-13 together, we enjoyed very fun learning, we built good base of the tools and materials, gained good experience of effective learning with guided hands-on projects.
We run the learning activities as "study circle" supported by ABF. We strictly follow the regulations. We believe in the values of study circle, and truly want to contribute to an open learning culture where all participants are respected, encouraged, supported, developed.
This learning group is totally volunteering, non-profit, so it is tuition fee free! However, we share the common costs for necessary tools and materials, logistics, social services like snacks, fika. Tutors are working as professional engineers during the workdays, participants are normally students at local school, we arrange our learning sessions at the weekends.
