This page serves to plan the agenda for the session, then logs the finalized minutes, as well as information necessary for final summary, upon the completion.
Introduction of the new Learning Package
New knowledge input: Boolean Logic operations (or, xor, and, not) knowledge input and exercise
Introduction to the programmable vehicle, the first experience to let the vehicle move
Very good starting with motivated students coming back to the class!
Very fun exploration with the MOVE vehicle, leaving the students some free exploration, and defined some challenging targets
Not well prepared with the batteries, causing the problem of driving the motors in actual situation :-(, should be more careful to check the needed materials
The new MOVE vehicle provided to Dongdong seems not working with one wheel... This is a totally new package, indeed with some uncertainty of not working correctly from the new pack. Again, need to be more careful to check the needed materials, and try them out before the learning
78 Kr: Tutor parking fee
56 Kr: Fika
10:00-10:18: Prepare, check-in discussions -> latecomers could miss this without big lose
Check in and prepare
Introduction of the new learning package
10:19-10:49: Boolean logic operation
Recap: what is Boolean
Learn and exercises KB012: Boolean Logic: AND, OR, XOR, NOT -> XOR is not covered, will be added next time
Try Python to solve the exercises -> Not tried using Python to solve problem, but a drawing exercise on the white board
10:50-11:05: Fika break and social
11:05-11:50: Programmable vehicle first experience
Introduction, what it is, what it can do, and where to find the programming blocks in MakeCode
Hands-on work to compile the vehicle
A free exploration and show what you have done, a first challenge:
Control the vehicle to move forward/reverse/left/right
Control the vehicle for lights
Control the vehicle for horn
Let the vehicle start from a line, and finish the route by itself till the destination line, without remote control or any human interferece, so it will take several rounds to calibrate for how much it should move in a specific direction
-> not enough batteries, but the students tried triggering horn and light, it worked, it's not enough battery level to drive the motor. The students brought home the vehicle, and do the challange as homework.
