Team up with AI
Engineers today work with AI at every step: a chat helper explains a program or finds a likely bug, an assistant in the code editor writes a first draft, and a trained model can see, hear or feel movement inside a machine. AI is fast and knows a lot, but it does not see your board, and it can sound sure and still be wrong.
You ask, AI suggests, you test, you decide. Keep only what works and what you understand.
More: where AI helps, how to ask, and what you bring
Where AI helps: ideas and plans, explaining code and error messages, a first draft of a function, likely reasons for a bug, test cases, the words for your poster. Where it does not: knowing your wiring and your parts, knowing what you really want, measuring the real world, being always right.
Ask well: say your board and parts, what should happen, what happens instead, and give your code.
I use an Arduino UNO with a buzzer on pin 8. It should beep faster when the car comes closer, but it always beeps at the same speed. Here is my code: (paste it) Give me the 2 most likely reasons and how I can test each one.
Check: read the answer, try one idea at a time, and ask "why?" when you do not understand a line.
What you bring: the idea worth building, a look at the real thing, care for the people who use it, good taste, and the responsibility for the result. Those make an engineer, with or without AI.
- Private: never type or upload names, addresses or photos of people.
- Honest: say what AI did and what you did.
- Yours: you put it on the board, so you check it and you answer for it.
